Something highly recommended by the guys who own and work on Japanese bikes is a set of screwdrivers. They look like standard Philips, but it seems that the screw heads are sufficiently different to make life difficult. They are relatively cheap and will work with Philips heads, too.

The new battery arrived. I checked, and it was fully charged. I fitted it to the bike.
My 1997 Honda Pan European (ST1100) has been sitting in the garage for a while. I went away to Europe for three months, and when I got back, the battery had died.
